Ever since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to storytelling and rhyme. In middle school, that love for writing lyrics and stories took off. Seen here is an unedited copy of my untitled poem inspired by Rosa Guy’s novel My Love, My Love/Once On This Island. At the time, I wanted to read the novel in addition to the script as a way of developing a more realistic portrayal of my character.
